@ST0N3PONY Its well known they had problems with the internal storage of many weapon systems and yes when you consider the F-35 was designed to be the next generation in stealth technology then adding legacy external systems basically throws 235 million per plane into the wind when its just as visible as an F-18.

@UKGEZR Stealth is an option it will half (it will still be stealthy to a degree), just like the harrier can land in a jungle and take off like a helicopter... I suspect that if one of these are ever tasked to go somewhere where it's sophisticated high tech enemy radar looking for them, and not cave-people shading their eyes from the sun with their hand... They'll probably leave the externals off?
The F-35 has no working internal weapons?

So you are an expert in government aircraft design now. The government has been touting the F35 can carry everything inside to keep it stealthy and that's why they are retiring so many perfectly good airplanes. So after spending $400 billions, we get a non-stealthy airplane for a stealthy plane price. That is a waste of money.
