A protester who was brave enough to flout the rule that bans all forms of demonstration in Saudi Arabia payed with his life when security shot him dead. Protests have been occuring in several parts of Saudi Arabia, and across diverse sectors of the community unrelated to the sectarian divide that the authorities are desperate to play. Demonstrations have for example erupted in the capital, in universities, outside ministries, over disputes with authorities due to corrupt constructors, etc.

The boy in the video was named as زهير آل سعيد Zahir Al Said, and was killed in the eastern area of Al-Awamiah, where protesters are angry with Saudi Arabia's involvement in crushing the nearby Bahrain uprising. Saudi Arabia sent troops into Bahrain to help destroy Pearl Roundabout and occupy Bahrain after over half the population turned to the streets to demand reform.
