That Toyota and last years Audi, is a statement to how far the safety in motorsports has come! It is hugely impressive, how well enginered those cars really is, and it's great that when the worst case scenario shows, it's more and more unlikely to be fatal!

I just watched a Documentary on the 1955 Le mans where there was a crash into the stands and it killed 85 people, many of them were decapitated, really neat watch.

@Singlecoilsnap Yes, a big engine came flying in to the stands, pretty horrible accident indeed.

@Singlecoilsnap I've watched that on youtube. Crowd safety wasn't high on their agenda.

@Leaker89 It was very intriguing, and the rivalry between drivers and cars and even countries.

I know how these guys feel. I've eaten shit on that corner more than once in GT5.

Davidson was passing a Ferrari 458 GT-class car at one of the fastest corners on the circuit when the other driver, amateur driver Piergiuseppe Perazzini, unintentionally turned into the Toyota.
The contact sent Davidson's car spinning which allowed air to get underneath the body and flip it into the air.
The force of the Ferrari's impact with the safety fence was so severe it crushed the metal barrier that was protected by several rows of tyres. It took safety workers more than an hour to rem More..

@DEADBEEF It was just an addition to your post. Although I've read it on a Dutch news site, here's a link to autoblog:

@riley its toyotas fault for going for a gap that he knows will disappear for 100% certainty.

@ColdShadowFlare Are you blind? The Toyay was well past the Ferrari. Note how the front end of the Ferrari clips the rear quarter of the Toyota. It was the Ferrari that should have been doing the conceeding. It's called getting over taking and is part of racing.

@Chucky-D All did survive, Anthony Davidson (driver of the flying toyota) had a very small fracture on his spine, but he's alive and should heal without any following problems.
