Israel's Air Force has started deploying an Iron Dome battery in several locations in the Tel Aviv metropolitan area, for training purposes and adjustment to the region.

The anti-missile system has already been deployed in various locations across Israel this year including Jerusalem and Haifa.

The battery will stay in central Israel for several days as operators train on quick deployment.

The deployment was scheduled to take place earlier this month but was postponed due to the recent round of escalation in the south.

Next week, the system's fourth battery which is meant to protect residents of the Tel Aviv metropolitan area will become fully operational. The recent upgrade in its technological capabilities will enable the battery to protect the area from rocket fire. Also, for the first time a female officer, Captain Revital Ozen, has been appointed the battery's commander.

The IDF Spokesperson's Unit said that the Iron Dome is in the process of becoming operational as part of which the battery is being deployed in different locations across Israel.

The battery is worth $50 million, not including the costs of the rockets and infrastructure. USCongress has recently introduced an Iron Dome endorsement bill which recognizes the system's operational success and strategic significance and proposes funding for additional batteries.

Photos shows the Iron dome in action and the Tel Aviv metropolis, the largest populated area in Israel, and most likely the main target during the next missile war...

  • This doesn't looks good- There is no real motive to deploy Iron dome in Tel- Aviv region, unless this is a preperation for a general war...

Only one battery, even several, could not take down hundreds of long rage missiles fired all at once at the most populated area of Israel...This is why i'm hearing from quite many around me that Israel is not ready for such kind of war.

The US gave them this shit...

  • From what I've read there are only two 'iron dome' batteries in Israel.

How can they deploy multiple batteries over Israel? Is this another propaganda piece?

    • @DEADBEEF

No there were 3, now there are 4.

Still, this is nothing in order to cover, even a small size land as Israel, specially during a full war.

If what you said is true, this article can only offer a sense of false security for the Israeli readers.
If shit hits the fan, Tel Aviv (I like the pic btw) will look like Fallujah in its glory days (if you know what I mean)...

Of course, even if all the batteries will be deployed in Tel Aviv region (and probably it won't, cuase other areas also need to be covered), they most likely won't be able to handle hundreds (or even dozens) of missiles launched at the same time.

That is why I hear many voices in Israel saying that our country is simply not ready for such a risk.

Not just the high destruction and victims- Tel-Aviv is the financial and business heart of Israel- if it will be paralayzed for more t More..
