Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner said it would be "deeply irresponsible" for the Obama administration to support a wholesale extension of the Bush era tax cuts, including breaks for the wealthy.
Geithner said, "What the President believes is the best strategy for the country is to extend the tax cuts that go to more than 95 percent of Americans, more than 95 percent of small business. Keep taxes on capital income low going to moderate."
Secretary Geithner disagreed with charges the administration has been hostile to Wall Street.
He said that Obama had no choice but to pursue a much tighter regulation of business.
Geithner said President Obama had a deep obligation "to fix what was broken."
He admitted the economy hasn't bounced back as quickly as federal officials would like.

Yeah, because everything these fools have done so far has worked so well.
If they don't renew the Bush tax cuts (for EVERYONE...but ESPECIALLY THE WEALTHY BECAUSE THEY CREATE JOBS), the we're guaranteed an encore slowdown in 2011...i.e., a double-dip recession.
This is purely ideological, and the claim that they're not hostile to business, particularly small business, would be laughable if it weren't such a destructive lie.
Watch them blame Bush for Obama's double-dip.

What was Pelosi's brilliant theory? The best way to stimulate an economy is to hand out free money, because people tend to spend it all right away. She's so smart it's scary.
And, if Schultz had a clue he'd understand that the wealthy pay all our taxes. Our taxes rank as the highest or second highest on Earth, and anybody but people like Schultz can understand why it might be a bad idea to stifle your employer base.

Ed, you're such an idiot. Let me help you. The bottom 20% pay nothing in tax. So their share of a tax cut will be negligible. The "tax cut" was not welfare, it was a reduction in burden. Therefore, only those experiencing the burden would see relief. Is it that hard for you to set aside your political & philosophical bigotry and understand this very elementary concept?

Give Americans back their money, they will decide what to do with it. Jobs are not the governments responsibilty.
