Mitt Romney easily survived his first debate of the 2012 primary with barely a nick to his early frontrunner status.
Tarred as a flip-flopping phony during his 2008 White House bid, Romney looked at ease during the two-hour live forum, and none of his lesser-known rivals made him squirm. Eager to make pleasing first impressions on a national audience, they all passed when handed opportunities to attack Romney.
A picture of the former Massachusetts governor and corporate executive in an open-collared shirt and tie -- posted on Twitter just minutes before the debate in an obvious attempt at campaign image-making -- rang true.
Romney was pointed

  • I love how rominites try to dismiss Paul as a quack fringe runner this year. I am glad because anyone who actually watched the debate saw who the crowd really wanted.

"Ron Paul, the Texas congressman who has run for president before, did little to shake his image as a fringe candidate by talking too fast and dropping obscure subjects like "Keynesian bubble'' and "monetary policy'' into the conversation."

Keep telling yourselves that, there is one thing for sure in 2012, Ro More..

    • @gregory_peckory Anyone who votes for a person to run our country when she left the state she was running to be a TV personality needs to be committed like the guy in your picture. I don't like Bachmann, thats my personal opinion, but at least the lady didn't run from her duties in office to make an extra 20 minutes on TVland.

  • One thing I noticed is how many there tried to sound like Ron Paul on many of the subjects, the questions asked were all things the GOP tried to avoid the last go around except Paul. One really stood out and that was the guy who asked if there was a candidate on stage who would close the military bases around the world in order to reduce the debt, another question that was asked is if they believe it is time to pull our troops out.
