It was not explosive, the Macon was filled with helium, not hidrogen like the zeppelins.

It's somewhat of a clever idea, but that huge blimp would be easy pickings for any enemy gunship or aircraft.
If you could combine the height and radar invisibility of a stealth aircraft with the aircraft carrier ability of this thing, now you got something useful. Hmmm...

if the world was a peaceful place,.it could have allot of civilian uses,.
like a big mail carrier for little islands or something,.non war use maybe?
use as a means of delivering goods to far off impassable lands of sorts that have no roads or rails,.??
but then I guess nowadays they have huge long distance choppers,.
just ideas of coarse,..;)
