SAN ANTONIO — Presidential candidate Rick Santorum on Thursday said
Republicans should give President Barack Obama another term if Santorum
isn't the GOP nominee and for a second day compared rival Mitt Romney to
an Etch A Sketch toy.
Santorum reiterated an argument he has made before: The former
Massachusetts governor is not conservative enough to offer voters a
clear choice in the fall election and that only he can provide that
contrast.
"You win by giving people a choice," Santorum said during a
campaign stop in Texas. "You win by giving people the opportunity to see
a different vision for our country, not someone who's just going to be a
little different than the person in there."
Santorum added: "If they're going to be a little different, we might
as well stay with what we have instead of taking a risk of what may be
the Etch A Sketch candidate for the future."
Santorum was referencing Romney adviser Eric Fehrnstrom's comment
Wednesday that "everything changes" for the fall campaign. "It's almost
like an Etch A Sketch," he said on CNN. "You can kind of shake it up and
we start all over again."
The remark reignited criticism of Romney as the type of politician who will say or do anything to win.
Romney, who made no public appearances Thursday, issued a statement
expressing disappointment "that Rick Santorum would rather have Barack
Obama as president than a Republican."
"This election is more important than any one person. It is about the
future of America," he said. "Any of the Republicans running would be
better than President Obama and his record of failure."
Rival Newt Gingrich tweeted: "Rick Santorum is dead wrong. Any GOP nominee will be better than Obama."

I feel a bit sorry for Republicans this year, being forced to vote for a punk like Romney has got to suck.
Looks like it will be Obama until January 2017.

@werdum12 I agree, this year could have been an easy win for the Republicans but all the serious potential candidates refused to run. I still don't understand why.

@mabutoo Because the Republicans let their party be hijacked by those retarded tea baggers. Ronald Reagan, the hero of Republicans would be considered too liberal for these retards. The smart ones realized this and were not willing to be slaughtered because of these morons.

No, that's a circa 1980 'new right' candidate. These so called conservatives didn't exist 40 years ago, and I wish they would go back to being non-existent.

Obama has been chosen by Goldman Sachs. Anyone who thinks the people of the U.S. still have a say in who becomes their leaders is sadly naive. The banks own both sides. They are making the Republicans intentionally sabotage their own ticket in order to make Obamas victory look more legit.
Four years ago I would have been happy, but now I know that Obama is there as their puppet. The Occupy movement just ensured his re-election because the banks knew that a neo-con would just sustain and increas More..

@strideninja The thing is, it is the republicans who are responsible for Obamas reelection through their hate.
The fact is, Obama is not some socialist, because he is in fact more like current conservatives, but the only reason democrats havent abandoned him for lying his way into office is because the republicans have been acting so crazy it makes Obama look like the sane choice. If republicans had been more civil and cut it out with the racist shit, and the he's a marxist shit, and all the st More..

AP, Kasie Hunt Try to Perpetuate 'Hatchet Job of All Time' Claim That Santorum Said He Would Support Obama Over Romney

Republicans and Democrats have always been strange bed fellows. This comment is only a ploy to shift potential lost votes away from Romney. Ron Paul has shaken the relationship between the banks and government and we are seeing first hand how one influences the other.
My folks have always supported the GOP's candidates but they are even saying the party is dead. Romney is an idiot and Santorum, who the hell is Santorum?
