Combat power of the modern Chinese People's Liberation Army: Ground Force
A quick look at some of the equipment in service with the modern CPLA, ground force.
The CPLA GF, has a standing complement of 2.25 million members, with 800,000 reservists available in times of national crisis.
In addition, the state can call on 1.5 million members of the paramilitary force.
The mission of the CPLA GF, as defined by President Hu Jintao is to:
To consolidate the ruling status of the Communist Party
To help ensure China's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and domestic security in order to continue national development
To safeguard China's expanding national interests
To help maintain world peace

China has interests on every continent. There are 1.5 billion of them, mostly male (i.e. a huge constription pool). In other words, China is the 800 pound gorilla in the room of every important economic discussion. In future they will make Hitler look like small change.
