  • The YF-23 was such a damn cool looking plane. I know the F-22 (Then YF-22) was superior (at least someone people thought so), but the black widow looked like something out of a sci-fi movie.

  • I've always loved the look of the YF-23, especially the combined rear vertical/horizontal stabilizer.

  • The YF23 has been one of my favorites since I was a child. I like the look way more then the 22.

  • I don't know anything about the Widow.. but the Air Force SHOULD have dumped the F-22 over 5 years ago, when the nagging fact that it's oxygen-systems were for shit, and were making pilots black out from anoxia, were obvious.. INSTEAD, they buried those reports, and have been "tinkering" with it since then.
NOT ONE combat mission flown yet, and unless they're fucking suicidal, no pilot ever WILL!
Just like the osprey tilt-rotor plane, just like the hodge-podge B1-B, it needs More..

    • @nexus1961 besides, of all things to cripple a 300 million dollar aircraft, oxygen supply? seriously?

We all know if the russians were suddenly put in charge they will simply strap a scuba tank onto the outside and call it done. Sad thing is it probably would be a better solution than say, using charcoal for the air filters and suffocating the pilots even more (which the air force did).

    • @fludblud or maybe pressurized suits WITH an air-feed to the helmets?
A perfect example of "design by committee"!!!

    • @fludblud It's absolutely moronic, people who keep ranting that bullshit. As impressive as that aircraft is, and as much has been dedicated to it already, it should be just abandoned because there is a minor easily addressable flaw in the wildly complex design.

      *derp*

Ditto the Osprey. Thank goodness the hysterics didn't get their way, because that's going to be an important aircraft.

And, the only reason the B1-B was scrapped was because there was no longer a need for it after the Cold War.

    • @ST0N3PONY Silicone mule..
I SUPPORT our troops, and sure as hell don't want them killed by asshole money-grubbing contractors, who DID make the Raptor unsafe to fly!!
If I'm so wrong, why IS IT, then that after 5 years of deployment, NOT ONE FUCKING F-22 has flown a SINGLE combat mission?
We killed the B1-B for exactly the SAME KIND of stupid design-flaw..making what WAS a swift bomber into a cumbersome "fighter"
that CRASHED MORE OFTEN THAN IT FLEW, you asshole!
      Precisely W More..
