Anyone that hits their head that hard needs to go to the ER ASAP. Head trauma like that normally leads to at least a cerebral contusion (aka brain bruise)... but could also end up as intracerebral hemorrhage ending in death as the brain swells and increases pressure against the skull. I know this because I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express... (and because I'm a doctor)...
