An Audi R8 Burns Up in Toronto

Firefighters put out the smouldering wreck of a $134,000 Audi R8 on the Gardiner Expressway, doing a bit of smashing on the remains to make sure the fire doesn't spread. No cause is known, although some have speculated it was due to a fuel leak or aftermarket modifications.

  • 134k for a v8 VW , what a waste of money...

germany makes great cars but VW and AUDI's are nothing but garbage.

i think you would feel differently if you ever have the opportunity to drive one.
they are truly exceptional vehicles imo, and i've driven many fast cars over the years.

audis have gotten substantially more reliable over the last 10 years and have a much higher base level of luxury than anything American made, with a few exceptions. the quattro awd system is also very good.
      not for everyone though.

hey buddy , I wholesale cars through private auctions , I have bought plenty.. they are trash. My gf just bought a brand new 2008 a4 , it has nothing but problems. I have a 2004 530 inline 6 bmw , manual tranny , thing runs like a top and it has a 158k on it , not one problem.. trust me , audi and vw's are nothing but nightmares..

    • @skunk2 fair enough.
of course my buddy just sold his 2-3 year old 5 series, because the 3 degrees of canting or the like on the rear wheels was eating a set of tires every 3-4 months. guess they all have their issues.
i've owned a few audis and have never had a serious problem. mine were a6's and larger so i don't know if their quality gets better as you move up the food chain.
      happy 4th.

BMW's are known to have aggressive camber in the rear , but at the same time , you don't know how hard your buddy drives his car daily..

    • @H3dgehog Was this a v10? Only the v10 is closely related to the lambo's.

    • @H3dgehog Yeah I don't know where you got that info buddy, Lamborghini never made a v8, and audi has been rocking that v8 in one form or another for what, 7 years now

  • Or simply because it uses cheap ass low quality Lamborghini parts.
Driving a Lamborghini or Audi without fire extinguisher should be considered a crime.

  • What is it about expensive cars that makes them burn so often? Ferraris and Lambos burn all the time. WTF?
