Two steam trains crash at the California State Fair - 1913 Spectacular train crash

During the early part of the 20th Century some enterprising fair organisers discovered they could purchase old locomotives very cheaply and stage crashes with them at their fairs. A fee was charged to view the crash 'live' which more than covered the costs of the destroyed locos. The crash shown in this clip was staged at the California state fair in 1913. Contemporary reports of the day stated the trains crashed at 90mph, however it is clear from the footage of the driver jumping from his engine the trains were going nowhere near that speed
