@komet obrigado. there did operate Soviet Guard unit, which was well organised and equipped.German reenactors were "weathered" with heaps of dust before event.

How do they get these guns? I know they must be firing blanks, but are the guns real? Doesn't the government have strict laws on owning even blank firing guns?

I find the whole reenactment thing a bit weird. Near where I live the same people have been meeting at a castle to reenact a siege every weekend for at least the last 20 years that I know of. They get dressed up in medieval clothes, put up ancient tents and proceed to get pissed on scumpy. Sunday evening they all go home shouting "see you next friday"?
