Have you seen Steve Irwin's docu on 10 most deadliest snakes? He let a frickin fierce snake (inland taipan, death x100) crawl up and lick him on the face. So this guy isn't "that" crazy :)

  • Anyone who walks around barefoot in a country that's crawling with deadly poisonous spider's and snake's, is about 11 can's short of a 12-pack.
I haven't seen this guy in year's, I just assumed he was bitten, or eaten and he died.

Some people have strange ideas about what it's like to live here, lol.

Snakes and spiders aren't the biggest threat here. It's the damn creationists, politicians and greenies you gotta watch out for. The poli's will stab you in the back, the creationists annoy you to death and those bloody greenies don't know what they're doing but it's a life threatening situation trying to understand whose side they're on. On second thought, all 3 of them are capable of any of that.

  • I don't know why this silly prick is so concerned about browns; red belly blacks, tigers, taipan are the real worry

  • i did first aid not long ago, and for any snake baite in auss its a pressure dressing and imobilise the limb, , as the snake fangs are not long enough to get deep into the body ?... correct me if wrong... good post

The length of the fangs don't really matter. If they break the skin and inject venom, hope you're not out the bush by yourself.

Interestingly we have a collection of old snake bite treatment kits here. Most have a thing in them that has a mini scalpel in one end and a small supply of condy's crystals in the other. Yep, coz slicing open the bite area and sucking out the venom stops you turning into a frog. Or something like that.
