Thats why whenever I need to kill someone underwater I use a spear gun. Or if I'm feeling relaxed, the sharks with laser beams on their heads.

Interesting how the bullet only goes a few feet but a pelican going much slower will go a lot further, even though it's much less dense. There's some complex physics and shit involved it seems.

@irit8d but it's hard to fit 17 pelicans in the clip ;)

@irit8d Newton's Law of Phyics: For every action there's an equal and opposite reaction.
The harder you shoot the bullet, the harder the water acts as a wall to repel it. I 9MM cuts nicely through water, a .308 gets fragmented upon impact.

@irit8d
I would guess the pelican like the human has muscle and swimming ability and a goal to strive for somthing under the surface, they also often dive from over the surface with force downwards. The gun wasnt made for diving :p its the rotation of the bullet and its formation that stops it, and fireing mechanisme/powder.
But i get your point anyways cheers.

@Airedale Water doesn't compress very well. At 4 times the speed the bullet would of shattered into many pieces.

@saul693
A fathom (abbreviation: ftm) = 1.8288 meters, is a unit of length in the imperial and the U.S. customary systems, used especially for measuring the depth of water.

@trialdog The really fast rounds like the .223 fragment almost immediately. One of the most effective guns for shooting at someone trying to avoid being shot by hiding under several feet of water? A black powder rifle, believe it or not.

Well fathom that, I always thought a fathom was 6 ft, or the distance from fingertip to finger tip with arms stretched out to the sides ....to be exact
I would guess a bullet in salt water would travel a lesser distance than in fresh

Reminds me of mythbusters... you can get away from any gunfire under 3 feet of water... not even a barret 50bmg can penetrate more than 3 feet of water... remember that for your next gunbattle folks
