improperly pressed engine core and weak rocket motor case.
Why the engine was smoking and sputtering.
Weak case, when it did light... it blew part of the nozzle away sending the rocket side ways..
tube launch is the way to go with something this poorly constructed.
that may give you a change of having it go in the general direction you hand planed.
