This is a general response to the people of the inter-web who have habitually attacked Islam under the pretense of having "higher moral values" or a more "logical" frame of mind by which they slander Islam using concocted one-sided, biased, stereotypical schema s with a predisposition towards a skewered and hate-filled rant which could arguably be to vent off spiteful everyday "in-built" anger. The use of the oft-repeated humorless joke "snackbar" would be one example of this.

Several comments and threads discuss the backwardness of Islam and the "bronze-age" rules which it follows. Islam has been accused of mistreatment of Women countless times, and for some reason unbeknownst to logic some people here have added a disgusting trait called honor-killing into the fold of Islam. Now unfortunately a few Muslim apologetic s have fueled this fire by trying to compare Islam to the West with the argument that Islam is actually very much in tune and similar to western ideals. This is a total load of rubbish.

Let's set things straight. Islam for the whole part does not follow the practices of western civilization, thank goodness for that. Even for the sake of research we were to apply a 40% error margin on the above data, we would still be dealing with appalling numbers.

We can pull the data from the U.N and various other sources for the crime rates in the middle east and i can assure you that the numbers are considerably lower by a very big margin from the west. The fact is in Dubai, or Riyadh or Muscat etc i can leave my door open and come back a few days later with a good possibility that nothing would be stolen (true to my word, myself or relatives, friends have practiced keeping our doors open on more than one occasion without incident) reason being? BECAUSE NO-ONE IS CRAZY ENOUGH TO RISK HAVING HIS HAND (OR HEAD) CHOPPED OFF. I can watch a movie at the theater without worrying about live-action shootings, i can walk down the street without worrying about maniacs shooting in the street, i can send my kids to school without worrying if some bullied kid wants to play Rambo.

You people claim to adhere to sound mind and logic yet when logic slaps you in the face you still don't see it. You choose to hold on to the image of an Arab as a Hairy Incoherent dirty Bedouin and videos of stupid Saudi drift racers are uploaded and ridiculed as though they were ambassadors to Islam. What many of you fail to realize, is that Arabs in fact do not form the majority of Muslims in Islam, only around 18% of 1.6 billion Muslims are Arabs.

Regarding Women, the number revealed above should shed some light on the "respect" and freedom attributed to women in the west (or U.S more specifically). I can provide psychology journals and research reports which show that women wearing the Hijab are less likely to be preyed upon since sexual appeal is reduced, in addition to the representation of the Hijab being a constant reminder of religion which adds as a further deterrent from would-be attackers, the same studies apply to Catholic Nuns and Jewish covered women etc.

The west can be statistically and logically dissected to prove the notion that it is "Very Backwards" as a society in its principles and the current ongoing economical crisis is a proof of the instability of the pillars that erect the western fiscal system. Interest or "ribah" is one of the key factors which played a part in this historic tragedy and the Islamic Shariah in its "forward thinking" ideology has banned Interest and loan borrowings to prevent some of the instigators of the current crisis.

This is a long topic that could be discussed at length, perhaps another time, just wanted to give some food for thought and wake up those who had their heads deep in the ground.
