WTC Tower 4 Steel Construction Complete
Part of channel(s): September 11 attacks (current event)Construction of the steel superstructure of Tower 4 of the rebuilt World Trade Center complex was completed today. The toping out ceremony is a traditional event where the last piece of steel is installed and symbolizes the completion of the main structure of the building.
Speculation is high that the topping out ceremony for Tower 1, aka The Freedom Tower, which has been illuminated in red white and blue the past two weeks, will occur on July 4th.

@fotoman4u2 You know I have to admit it kinda made a lot of us sad that the steel finished. It was a job that meant so much to us and it was very enjoyable to work on once all the kinks got worked out. It was such a bureaucratic nightmare in the beginning with delivering material and all the bullshit ID's and badges we needed to get and the security to just go to work but it got a lot better as time went on, there is still a ton of work to do with the other buildings but this was the flagship bu More..

@The Grim I've seen some of the pictures up close from the IW mag and the damn reinforcement is absolutely insane!!! I dont think a plane at full tilt would get get through the forrest of rebar in there...

@Markstars Yeah they really went all out with this one. Even the base of the building is constructed with super dense concrete to take a truck bomb blast. They have lights in the stairwells and hallways similar to the flashing lights you see before an airport runway so if there is a lot of smoke or no lights that show people how to get out in an emergency. The columns are enormous.

@Salt Don't worry too much, TSA inspects your anus in checkpoints, no way you can bring cutters in a plane therefore these buildings are safe. Let alone that in cae of hijacking, the air force won't stay on the ground unlike on 9/11
