Chad Kidnap Families Want Millions In Compensation.

The court trying French charity workers in Chad has heard a compensation claim from the families of the 103 children they were planning to fly to France. It totals 300,000 euros per child. Arriving for their ongoing trial the detainees were asked how they felt.

"Not good as we go to our slaughter," said Emilie Lelouch. The families say the 'Zoe's Ark' aid workers had promised their children an education in Chad, and no one had mentioned they would be flown to France.

All six of the accused have been on hunger strike for weeks, protesting against what they see as their abandonment by the the French government .

Today, one of those on trial, Nadia Merimi, fainted in court and had to be transferred by French soldiers to a nearby military hospital.

They maintain they were rescuing orphans from Darfur with the intention of flying them to foster homes in France.

The parents claim their children have still not been returned to them. The youngsters were placed in orphanages in the Chad town of Abeche after the authorities stopped the plane from leaving the local airport.

  • So, are they orphans or not? It's hard to believe France would want three hundred orphaned African children when they already have a problem with unwanted immigrants from Africa. Maybe it was the French government that turned them in.
