Sen. Paul Blocks New Iran Sanctions With Amendment Requiring Constitutional Approval
Demands Amendment to Stop Administration’s Unilateral Use of Force
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Sen. Rand Paul took to the Senate floor to oppose unanimous consent of a new set of sanctions on Iran and introduced an amendment that would ensure that nothing in the act shall be construed as a declaration of war or an authorization of the use of force against Iran or Syria, and that any such use of force must be authorized by Congress.

@LostSomewhereInSpace Yep, and he's one of a minority of Senators with any common sense.

Well spoken. My vote is going toward putting his father in the white house, and when the time comes, most likely, Rand Paul himself. Rarely do you see rational thoughts coming from a politician.

America can not be the policeman of the world, sorry but the 1950's are over.
We can no longer bare the cost of fighting endless wars that have limited results. Regime change is great unless the new guys coming are even worse!
To the rest of the world, your friends in China and in Russia will be running all humanitarian efforts in replacement of the United States.
Good Luck.

@VartanZoravar That's cool. I'm Assyrian Christian (inspite of my name lol) from Iran. Assyrian and Armenian communities are very close friends in Iran.

before sending our troops to war, congress and the white house should go first, unless there is an actual attack on the US, on US troops, or on US soil.

I agree. The use of war making capabilities to determine international relations is insane. War should not be waged under these circumstances. War can only be legitimate as a defensive action, determined by the Congress.

@skrillas Most of 'em don't. You ever watch C-SPAN? There 's usually a hand full of members in the chamber and a whole lot of empty seats.
