(Patagonia Argentina - Puerto Madryn) South America
08/03/2010 A cargo ship collided with a southern right whale in the Almirante Storni pier in Puerto Madryn city, Argentina.
The incident occurred on Tuesday at 3 pm when the ship Langeless was trying to moor in the dock.
At that time, Biologist Daniel Perez Martinez was at the scene conducting a study and saw everything, while he managed to take pictures and record a video.
Thanks to these documents, the Patagonia Natural Foundation has again stressed that the question rose to certain sectors that seem to downplay this wonderful animal.
The organization said it had “taken part in the matter considering that such maneuvers are detrimental to their conservation.”
Whales are the main tourist attraction of Puerto Madryn and they are one of the leading exponents of biodiversity in Patagonia. They were declared National and Natural Monument in 1984.
