His name is Aleksander Gamme (35) and he is a Norwegian. In his own words: "This is day 86 on my full return South Pole Expedition 2011/2012. I`m quite hungry and about to pick up my last cache by my second pulk which I left on the way in. As a part of my motivational plan I have on purpose not made notes on what goodies I have left behind in the cache.. and on this last one, I didn`t expect very much.."

He left a food cache for the return back, after walking/skiing by himself to the southpole.
This was filmed on day 86, on his way back to base.

The actual story is that the guy returned to a camp where he had left snacks on a previous journey some considerable amount of time before. he was very hungry and about to run out of his own supplies. he had, by this time, forgotten most of what he had left at the camp, and was not expecting much food to be there - so he was (obviously) rather excited and relieved to find more than he had expected.

@dmorgan0628 Lol. Where did you think American rednecks came from? I mean, America was colonized by Europeans.

wrong on both accounts.
1. not finnish. norwegian.
2. not up north. this was recorded on the southpole.

As are you, my friend.
1. Finland and Norway are neighbors.
2. North is subjective.

@pachaKamaq
1. Then by that premise mexico and the US are the same.
I'm perfectly aware that Norway and Finland share a border. I happen to live inbetween them.
So no, I'm not wrong. The guy in the movie is from Norway.
2. North isn't subjective. Maps and compasses beg to differ.
And 5 billion adults on the planet when asked "where's north on a map" will point towards the north pole. Or "up" on a conventional world map.
So by your (lack of) logic I could stand in Guatemala More..

@Kasmackba
Speaking of Guatemala and New Zealand, did the natives have this concept of what "north" is? No. Therefore, it's subjective. What if the fundamentals of cartography claimed the rising Sun as true North? I'm not trolling. I'm just questioning why you accept everything you're taught as undeniable truth.

cut the guy some slack. he had been walking/skiing for 86 days, seeing nothing but snow and ice.
Deliberatly not keeping records of what's left in the food caches on the way back in order to give himself a welcomed surprise.
To all the "nutcase" comments:
Let's see you ski to the south pole and back by YOURSELF with no help, no company other than your own thoughts.
If you manage to do that without going a little loopy or excited about a yummy treat - then you get to call this guy a nu More..
