This shocking new video captured on a
mobile phone shows a murderer being executed by the father of the person
he killed in wartorn Afghanistan.
The
man, named only as Nawroz, killed the husband of his lover in a fit of
jealousy and last month he was sentenced to death at the hands of his
victim's family.
Crowds of locals gathered to watch him die in a shower of bullets in remote Kand, north of Kandahar in southern Afghanistan.

Brutal: Nawroz is seen standing in white as a man leads his victim's father to execute him


The shocking video shows Nawroz, wrapped in white, praying on a mat before standing up to be killed.


A local man then leads the victim's father towards him to fire the deadly shots saying 'hold the gun right'.

The weapon is then fired
twice, but concerned that Nawroz is not dead he continues to shoot into
his body as a person in the crowd shouts 'he is still alive'.

But another calls out 'stop
shooting, you donkey,' and the body is left slumped on the ground and
covered in blood as people swarm around to check he is dead.
Witness Jalaludin saw the execution and says the death sentence came after a meeting of religious leaders in the area.


'The
mullahs asked the father to forgive Nawroz and to take some of his
family's land and women in compensation. But the father refused, so the
mullahs ordered an execution,' he told CNN.
After
no trial an attempt to buy his way out of the crime afterwards was
refused because local warlord Mullah Mustafa will not take bribes.
Nawroz's
family say that he had first said he had received help to kill his
lover's husband but then after being interrogated by Mustafa he changed
his story to one of killing alone after allegedly being beaten.
His
cousin Sikander told CNN: 'We'd like strong government. There's no
police or government presence here, and Mullah Mustafa has government
contacts.'
The execution was committed in an area away from NATO forces or Hamid Karzai's government.


Mullah Mustafa keeps the region from Taliban control so the people are happy for him to rule with violence.

It is feared that the country is again falling into widespread lawlessness after a series of public executions in recent years.

Last year the Taliban executed a young couple who eloped, by stoning them, the first killing since their power base collapsed.


Human rights groups want the current Karzai government to impose rule of law and bring in a proper judiciary system.


While
NATO countries with forces stationed in the country are being
encouraged to pump more money into establishing law and order.
