I've read about this sort of hanging. It is different, obviously, from the Anglo-American method of dropping the condemned man through a trap door and breaking his neck. With this "pole method", they use a tight cord around the man's neck and pull in both directions to cut the blood flow to the brain. The guy is unconscious almost instantly.

I'm no sure , the grandson didn't want to talk too much about him . It was the name on the old green logbook that I noticed , that's when he fessed up .The g/s had changed his name to Miguel Martin and was moving permanently to Spain , but the whole family did too . You'd never have a quiet pint ever again with that name .

Austria, Czechoslovakia and Hungary used an unusual variant of short drop hanging. There was no gallows as such, but rather a stout vertical wooden pole (or post) of about 2-3 meters height with a metal hook or eye bolt at the top to which a thin rope noose was attached.
There was either a ladder or steps up to a small platform at the back of the pole for the executioner to stand on.

I am conflicted as to allowing an innocent man turn into a murderer by him preforming an execution and the need to terminate assholes.
On one hand I like the idea of getting rid of scum, on the other hand it feels we are condemning someone to be a murderer.
I'd rather we ask one of the victims family members who survived to do what they want with the guy.
