grass and hits the inside wall hard and flips a few times.

Was watching live that day and will never forget it. This crash changed racing forever and initiated a lot of the safety measures used today like Hans devices and also track changes by paving over the grass in the run off sections on ovals. He probably would have survived if he never hit the uneven grass, came across the access road and flipped the way he did. Bad design.

@FTW420 I went to every Indy race in Toronto and met Greg a few times..amazing guy and I still have a motorcycle helmet that he and many drivers signed..I'm glad racing has adapted all the new safety features as you mentioned..after this race, was hard to watch again

I was on the other side of that fence. Was pretty young but I still remember the sound that car made when it hit the wall and the rush of wind and debris. It was awful. I'll definitely never forget that day. RIP Greg!

@Tommyr Quite the opposite, he used his life amazingly, an accident got him, no different from going out one day and being involved in accident doimg something you do everyday, he just chose to do this, and was bloody good at it.
