Constant showers over a period of a couple weeks in mid June, 2007 triggered a landslide at Indira Bypass injuring a traffic policeman on duty.

Huge boulders from a hill next to the traffic point at Amdo Golai came tumbling down on the bypass injuring traffic constable Chabilal Chettri and blocking traffic along the route.

While the Border Roads Organisation personnel were clearing the road, Siliguri-bound vehicles were using an alternative route. Indira Bye pass was totally closed due to slip of heavy rock.
