Two people were wounded in a Monday morning shooting at a West Side sandwich shop. A man entered a Subway restaurant at 98th and Central, jumped the counter and forced two employees into a cooler at gunpoint. The man fired one shot when one of the employees later opened the cooler door, according to Albuquerque police spokeswoman Sgt. Trish Hoffman. The bullet struck 22-yearold Monica Maestas in her side abdominal area, ricocheted off and struck her co-worker Christian Irigoyen, 17, in the hand, Hoffman said. Both were taken to the University of New Mexico with non-life-threatening injuries. The robber fled with an undisclosed amount of money, possibly in a white four-door vehicle. He is described as being about 5 feet 7 inches tall and having a thick accent, possibly Cuban, according to Hoffman.
