  • are these automatic like do they just immediately pick up a mortar or rocket in the sky?

    • @buckster3257 auto target, although a operator has to say ok shoot to the computer. you know how hard it would be for a roller mouse tracker to target select a moving mortar manually :p it snaps targets and you press a analog botton to fire. this way you dont shoot your own mortars outgoing.

just like a aircraft pics up friendly launches.

    • @nowhereman1 oh huh thats pretty simple when you break it down but I'm sure the targeting system is complex but the basic idea is simple

    • @buckster3257 you know how you have a mouse on computer well it has a roller type mouse, the system has sybols for everything triangle type, sailboat looking icons, plus it has something called mode 2, mode 1, mode 3 etc, that tells the viewer what kind of id your flag, a airplane that flies from say us airways etc, as a code that says its neutral civ airline, sometime turing training, ill see ECM or active jam, then i sometimes dont know what it is, although patriot has low ability to jam from More..

    • @nowhereman1 That's amazing it's almost hard to believe because it sounds so futuristic but there are a lot more smart weapons now a days and this definitely fits the description of a smart weapon

    • @buckster3257 lol i was drinking, didn't know how horrible my grammar was, the tech has been around since the 60's and like everyone always says, tech is only as smart as the person using it. Unless your on a ship, being a air defense officer is the most dangerous thing to be, because your sites are the first thing the military targets.

although we have funny terms for everything, like a inbound missle coming toward a friendly ship is called a VAMPIRE, why lol because the missle shows as a V on More..
