  • This cop is just as dangerous as the guy he was chasing

Actually, to be fair, at those speeds the police vehicle is quite dangerous, that's just a fact. In North America (US and Canada) more LEO's are injured and killed in collisions than by any other means.

An interesting statistic, as well as ballistic protection, the body armor also provides some protection for the chest during many head on collisions, so long as the Officer is concommitantly wearing their seat belt.

    • @BunkerGearGal In the eyes of the general public if the police doesn't pursue fleeing suspects they're wrong. If the police pursue fleeing suspects they're wrong too. Either way the monday morning quarterbacks and haters come out of the woodwork.

And for the record I don't think Proud Canadian is either of those it's just my opinion.

Fair enough, and I actually support pursuits, it just doesn't mean the vehicle isn't dangerous at that speed.

    • @BunkerGearGal Very true... It's a dangerous job and criminals obviously don't care about the general public.

  • "No" is the answer for every question. He could have killed someone just to feed his ego..

  • That's way faster than I would want to drive in those traffic conditions to keep up with him.

With that much city traffic - it would be WAY too easy for a car to turn in front of the cop.

  • I hate Terminator cops. But what are you on about? Looked like he started slowing down when dispatch said to call it off, but then the call came through of a crash and he sped up again knowing he had a chance to catch the "bad guy". Having said that, this was a DUI thing? Chasing drunks like that just makes them more unpredictable and dangerous. If it was a murder suspect, or a pedi, I could understand wanting to nab the prick while he was putting people in danger.

  • well done sirs! Yes, many people in the area may have been struck. I dont know the exact protocol, but I see a Win in the end

  • I think the camera makes it look like he was going faster than he was. He was only chasing a cavalier after all, not a quick car.

  • Allow me to brush the dorito crumbs off my chest and secure my arm chair lumbar support pillow ... ah thats nice heres what I think... He had his lights and siren on so he's covered for driving that fast. You cannot see everything at the intersections he can. The pursuit terminated moments before he crashed infront of them so he got pinned. The officer would have been dead meat if the driver had a gun. So overall this is legit remember this guy could have been anyone and running for many re More..

In many jurisdictions, it is still required to slow down when approaching an intersection where you do not have a green light or you have a stop sign. Is this done in practise? Nope, but it can go against you if the Rat Squad decide to hang you out to dry if you kill someone with your patrol vehicle.

  • I think people like this should go through chemical paralization (like chemical sterilization) for 5 years. Maybe that will give them time to think whether they would do it again. If they do it again, try chemical quadriplegic-ization.

  • I've said it before and I'll say it again. The police are there to protect the law abiding citizens from the dickheads to commit crimes....ALL crimes. The minute you say that police can't chase bad guys, is the minute you empower EVERY bad guy to run. This cop was in control of his vehicle, HAD to drive fast to keep up with the bad guy(or else, what's the purpose of the chase) and when told to back off, he started to back off. As soon as he started to back off, the crash call came over the r More..

    How about asking
Did he get the job done?

At the end of the day you can question anything you do.

They invented the sirens many many years ago as a precautionary measure for public to stay away or back off when the sirens kicks in;meaning a good guy chasing a bad guy, so keep kids away from the streets and get away yourself. These criminals are unpredictabl More..
