My dad experienced a cave in once. I was supposed to go down in the pit like always, but for some reason he got off the excavator and said, "wait son, I will go in this time." When it caved in, I lost sight of him for about 3 seconds as the dirt was collapsing. When it settled, only his head was exposed. Managed to get him out in about 15 minutes. Very scary.
