Here"s some good news!
She didn't say anything about it being against the law to grow food in your backyard. I thought it was outlawed in the US not long ago

@Beethoven no I think in california its illegal to farm organic food. They made some chemical mandatory thus making true organic illegal

@rob86879
Also, the Govt changed the definition of 'organic' to include foods grown with 'natural' fertilizers.

Wait till the Feds get into the game, and she'll have so many requirements, it won't be sustainable, much less profitable.

Good idea,but it's not cheap to build all of those raised beds and fill them with suitable soil.It's not against the law to grow veggies for your own consumption.There was a law proposed here in NJ that would have prevented you from selling your produce from a stand.It was defeated.The reason for it being introduced was the many outbreaks of e-coli.Food sold in a store has a barcode that can be used to trace its origin.You lose that ability with roadside stands.

@echo4250 The reason there are outbreaks of anything is due to the industrial treatment of food in the first place. A local producer selling from a stand the food he picked up the day before will not have such problem. Good thing the bill was defeated.
