Being half frog myself, i feel obligated to comment. Here is my thought...having lost 2 world wars plus Vietnam and Algeria, pehaps they have chosen to be a sleeper force. I.e. they defend their interests with consumate skill and let the enemy ignore them at their peril. No great nation of Europe, with a similar history would choose any other approach.

"Having lost 2 world wars"? What are you talking about? Certainly not about France. The humiliation and political oppression that the French exerted on the Germans after WWI and the Versailles Treaty was what mostly provoqued WWII.

French are probably one of the best Military and Police K9 trainers in the world. Along with Germany, Belgium and Holland, the French are very talented K9 trainers with over 100 years of modern military K9 training.
Much of the modern DOD K9 program out of Lackland, is based upon modern French training methods. The civilian director of the DOD K9 program was directly influenced by the French and Belgium.

have to agree conventional warfare id say the americans would feel very at home, as for counter insurgency and counter guerilla, id put my money on the turks and isrealis
