Safe Mode: On
Getting Arrested For Recording Police (audio only until 2:12)

My name is Jared Parr. On the
evening of January 15th, I was on my way home from work when I noticed a
cop pulling people over for making a right turn when it's not allowed
(4-6pm M-F). I've uploaded a previous video where I had a conversation
with one officer that was stationed to do the same thing. I was also
arrested a few months ago on bogus charges because I was warning drivers
of this trap. I go around the block and park about 100 feet ahead of
where the cop had someone pulled over. I turned off the car and
observed, without recording. After the cop finished with the original
stop, they turned and saw another car violating the sign. They turn
again, pulling the second car over. This time, however, it's right in
front/diagonal of my car, blocking me in. I start the recording after a
second officer pulls up (directly on the side of my car) and suspect
that he'll make contact with me. After being pulled from the car and
sitting for almost an hour, they finally decide to charge me with
"Obstructing".

If you want to call and ask why their officers are
so uninformed about simple law and procedure, the info is: Woman cop is
J. Dyer, male cop is Johnson; I don't know the first initial. I've been
told they don't use badge numbers but I've never actually noticed
whether that's true. They work out of the 4th District for the
Montgomery County PD in MD. http://www.mymcpnews.com/districts/fo.... The main number for the Office of the Chief is 240-773-5030. Chief of police is J. Manger.News story here:

    • @INEVITABLE-COLLAPSE The biggest enemy of innocent people are the policemen. They can't catch a criminal but they are tough when it comes to bully an innocent.

That's because the real criminals bribe and control the boss of the boss of boss of these jerks.
These are just the last wheels of the wagon, they know it and try to act powerful with the average joe while the boss of their boss assists his boss in receiving a big envelope from the real criminals in some fancy restaurant.
They all smile in their nice suits and sip on a good Italian chardonnay while this video is recorded.

  • Whilst I agree with the comments that this guy was baiting the cops, that is not the real foundation of this video and the true repercussions are what really need addressed and commented upon.

The fact is, that the police don't know what they are doing!
They don't know the law, and hide behind their uniform and issue 'orders' to impose their authority.... and their 'authority' is something they appear to gloat upon and enjoy abusing I might add.
It is not the responsibility of the public t More..

  • Sorry, US friends, but you now live in a police state. Options are to accept it or to fight. The future is now.

    • @fasterthansnail we're deemed one of the greatest countries in the world because of our freedoms and rights. I WILL fight when the time comes, these corporate thugs and "police" will not take away my rights.

  • These cops MUST understand that this guy is not a criminal, they just want to put him in his place. That is absolutely ridiculous, cops in the USA MUST be made more professional than that. They can not just detain and arrest someone because they don't like a person, that is tantamount to a police state. Something this great nation claims not to be.

Its working on me.. I want to learn more about my freedoms.. My wifes criminal record was ruined by stupid cops when she was 18.. they completely falsed up the report and now she has to suffer the record.

  • I'm really sorry for you, my American friends. This is so far removed from the classic picture of the US and really deters people like me who may or may not opt for a study abroad.

The American Dream is turning into a nightmare, innit?

  • Everybody knows the US is a police state; Cops are treated like they are above the law and they think so themselves too. How many times I've read about US cops shooting unarmed civilians but not being prosecuted because of 'reasonable fear of their safety'.

America is a third word country. Social, economical, educational and criminal statistics certainly show that.

    • @rastamoun no, most americans did not vote for gun restrictions. Where did you hear this? CNN? FOX news? I guarantee you, if they held a voting session strictly for gun legislation, it is not a majority. Various states are currently fighting these gun laws at the state level, and they are winning.

  • Lots of cops is powertripping retarded douches. Don´t trust cops. Don´t answer anything without a lawyer. I love people recording cops because we need to see how they operate in real life and not just in the cop tv shows.

  • This is a great leak. Puts a big break on abuse of authority. Brave to mess with cops, but this is a good cause. Will be interesting to see what comes of this.

    From the news story:
A Montgomery County Police spokesperson tells ABC7 the officer was incorrect in telling Parr he could not record, because department policy tells officers anyone has the right to record them while in public...

In 2010 a Maryland judge ruled the state's wire tap law allows recording of both voice and sound in areas where privacy cannot be expected.

  • I can't help thinking that the people that going around doing this were the kids who's parents reasoned with them rather than dictated, empowered rather than punished. It's like they have never had to submit to authority. I could be wrong.

    • @DustyD It's confusing, speaking from my own experiences in school and whatnot, it was the those who made sure to always submit to authority who got the bad end of the deal in situations, as if the teachers looked down on them for it, it was always the people who spoke back and ignored authority who got on the best and actually had the best relationships with the teachers. Just what I saw back then, could have just been the school.

    • @Balkanisation2 Good point. Sometimes good to speak up. The problem is in matters involving police, it requires a level of complete submission that some people are not accustomed to or able to deal with.
