As America steps up its military efforts in Afghanistan, West Point will provide the ongoing stream of officers who must direct the fight against the Taliban and Al Qaeda. As statues of General Macarthur and Eisenhower watch over the new cadets, many believe that this war wont be like those before. Victory in a counter-insurgency is not going to look like what Americans have understood victory to mean in the past, says Craig Mullaney, a West Point graduate. There wont be a white flag of surrender from the Taliban. As well as turning out warriors, West Point claims its one of Americas best universities boasting broader studies to round out the modern fighter. But once the cadets get into battle, will they be adequately equipped?"
