Little House was broadcast from 1974 to 1983, 9 seasons 203 episodes. Loosely based on the real stories penned by Laura Ingalls Wilder. A family heads off to Walnut Grove, Minnesota to begin a new life together.
In the ninth 1983 season the show was renamed "Little House: A New Beginning", which is considered by many to be a spinoff not a continuation. It ran for 19 more episodes. There were also three made for TV movies.
Little House on the Prairie: A Look Back to Yesterday
Little House: Bless all the Dear Children
Little House: The Last Farewell
There was a Thanksgiving special called "Little House Years" during season 6 in 1979, where they showed clips of the show up till that time. I guess it was sort of like a "Thanks for giving us this ratings cash cow" kind of special.
This is one of the longest running dramas on TV. This show is still in syndication today, you can pick it up here and there on various cable stations.
The theme song was penned by David Rose who also wrote "The Stripper" if you're familiar with it. One of those very distinct themes that you can readily identify when you hear it. Has a nice sound to it. He originally wrote this theme music as incidental background music for Bonanza.
Johnny Cash and model trains, how cool is that!

Memories, takes me back to when I was a kid, saturday night treat with my mum and sister, little house on the prairie followed by emergency squad 51, a box of smith's chips and a bottle of lemonade and we thought we ruled. Makes me a bit sad as they are not here anymore. Good memories.

Does anyone remember the little girl on this show? Not the main "half-pint" girl, but the really young girl. Anyways, she was actually an identical twin and my family was friends with her family. Apparently it's common practice to cast twins due to child labor laws (dual shifts).
