On the 28th of June, Metrobus drivers, Metro Riders, and Occupy DC joined forces vor a picket to demand that Metro STOP playing off riders against workers with a combination of fare hikes for riders and benefit/pay cuts for bus and train operators.
As an alternative, union activists backed by Occupy and riders are demanding that big businesses that make millions because Metro is there pay their fair share. Metro cannot sustain itself without help from Verizon Center, Fedex Field, the Nationals stadium, and so many other businesses that would choke to death on traffic without transit. In the long run, these 1 percenters can either pay up or shut down!
