North Korea has made serious threats since the United Nations’ decision to inspect ships entering Korea for supplies that help its nuclear bomb-making program. Analysts say they might launch a missile towards Hawaii July 4.
The rogue nation has a massive stockpile of chemical weapons which is as threatening as its nuclear program, analysts said Thursday. This is one area of weaponry seldom discussed, but equally serious in terms of North Korea’s ambitions.

Tensions are high in the region, according to a Japanese report, that added North Korea may fire its most advanced ballistic missile in the direction of Hawaii on or about July 4, Independence Day, in order to make a statement. It was three years ago North Korea tried to do that and failed, but this time the concern is it might be successful.
Although the missile launch is not expected to actually reach Hawaii or any other U.S. territory, it would come as a serious blow to the international community that unanimously, through the United Nations, told Korea not to continue its weapons program. In response North Korea has answered with threats of war and promises to expand its nuclear bomb-making program.

One of the worst issues related to North Korea’s stance is that it has so little contact with the outside world, that unlike Iran there aren’t numbers of people with Internet connections to reach out to inform the international community what is going on inside the country. Two journalists were recently arrested and sentenced to 12 years of hard labor for entering North Korea, according to accusations made against them.

A secretive country, with massive stockpiles of both nuclear and chemical weapons, angry, unafraid and with a leader considered crazy and without conscience could create serious harm, according to authorities; and therefore negotiations have been cautious. This latest concern, as described by the analyst, is a serious threat to peace and more high profile, some say, than the protest and demonstrations against the election in Iran.
