11 Taliban militants killed in Afghan military operations

Afghan Interior Ministry following a press release on Saturday announced at least 11 Taliban militants were killed following military operations by Afghan police forces during the past 24 hours.

The source further added Afghan police forces conducted at least 8 military operations along with the Afghan army, Afghan intelligence and coalition security forces in Helmand, Zabul, Ghazni, Paktika, Herat and Farah provinces of Afghanistan.

Afghan Interior Ministry officials following the press release also added at least 2 Taliban militants were detained during the military operations.

Afghan security forces also seized some weapons, ammunition and explosives including 2 AK-47, 1 PK is a 7.62 mm <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/7.62_mm_caliber>; machine gun, 8 magazines of PK-47 ammo, 33 rounds of missiles, 4 landmines, 2 hand grenades, 4 motorcycles along with a vehicle used by militants.

In a separate incident two suspected militants were killed while planting roadside improvised explosive device at Marjah district of southern Helmand province. Anti-government armed militant groups yet to comment regarding the reports.
