A teacher who began an affair with an underage student just two months after getting married has been jailed for five months.
Rachel Farrell was accused of having sex with four students in the months after her marriage in June 2010.
But after three of the teens refused to co-operate with a police investigation the 26 year old was charged with one count of underage sex.
Farrell, who has since been divorced by her husband, pleaded guilty to corrupting a minor.
Her lawyer told a court in Bangor, Pennsylvania, that the newlywed was not ' a teacher on the prowl'.
But prosecutors said Farrell had maintained relationships with four boys at Bangor High school where she taught English.
One boy, identified only his initial GR, said that he had sex with Farrell on numerous occasions.
He said they would drive to secluded locations and have sex in cars. One of the encounters took place while they were in a Wal-mart parking lot.
Farrell also booked rooms at the local hotel where the pair had sex.
The boy, now 18, told police that Farrell was his 11th grade reading teacher at Bangor high School.
Prosecutors dropped charges of involving three other teens when they refused to cooperate with the investigation.
Farrell had allegedly admitted to police last December that she had had sex with two 17-year-old boys from the school.

She submitted her resignation at the same time.
The age of sexual consent in Pennsylvania is 16.
But 'corruption of minors' is when someone older than 18 corrupts the 'morals' of anyone under 18. The statute is listed below.
Defence attorney Steven Mills asked Judge Emil Giordano to consider a sentence of no jail time or house arrest.
He said Farrell had cooperated with police and had never committed a crime before.

She was not a 'teacher on the prowl,' he said, and she even avoided contact with the student after he reached out to her and her sister on Facebook, Mills said.
He said he had full confidence Farrell would not appear before him again.
Farrell stared down at the desk during the hearing, quietly sobbing.
She stood to tell Giordano she felt guilty for letting down the school community.
'That's not what an educator should be like, and I know that,' she said, according to the Pocono Record newspaper.
She then surprised Judge Giodarno by telling him she thought the sentence of five months in jail and three years probation was correct.
After the hearing, Mills said he will appeal the sentence, adding that the district attorney's office did not specifically request jail time for Farrell.
