On the 22nd of June, antiwar activists showed up outside the Embassy of Ecuador's temporary office in Georgetown asking the government of Ecuador to grant asylum to Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, who has taken shelter in another Embassy of Ecuador in London.

If Ecuador grants asylum to Julian Assange, there are several ways of getting him out of the Embassy to an aircraft or ship. One way would be to bring an Ecuadorian warship to just outside British waters and fly a helicopter to the Embassy to pick him up. Another way would be to rely on international laws prohibiting inspection of diplomatic cars to move him by car trunk to an airfield or a ship.

Britain is seeking to extradict Assange to Sweden, a nation that has been condemned by the United Nations for previously "rendering" prisoners to the United States, where they are at risk for torture.

Anyone thinking Assange would not be tortured in the United States need only look at the treatment of Bradley Manning, held over a year in solitary confinement.
