I find it hard to believe that the Syrian Observatory actually has the gall to say only 1,000 rebels have been killed (while 7-8,000 security forces have died) - all these casualty vids would suggest otherwise.

I'd agree with you that the number of rebel fatalities is higher than 1K. You certainly couldn't tell by watching the Syrian footage on LL. FSA kill vids seem to vastly outnumber those of the regimes troops. Then again, SAA don't feel the compulsion to film every damn thing they do on a day to day basis. Who knows the reality but it's clear that civ deaths outnumber both combatant sides together.
