Part of channel(s): Afghanistan (current event)

An ex-Soviet soldier in Afghanistan hasn't returned to the motherland in
more than 25 years. He remembers 1983 like it was yesterday: It was the
height of the Soviet war in Afghanistan, and the USSR had brought a
communist regime to power in the country and provided it with economic
and military supported. He fought on the Soviet side of the conflict,
but was captured by the Mujahideen. The ex-soldier now lives in
Afghanistan, and has a wife and four children. Is this man a traitor to
his country, or simply a victim of circumstance?
