IDF strikes over 100 Gaza targets since yesterday; Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood calls to cut ties with Israel

As Operation Cloud Pillar entered its second day, the IDF braced towards an escalation in the rocket fire on Israel, especially during the funeral of Hamas military chief Ahmed Al-Jabari on Thursday morning.

Since beginning the operation Wednesday, the IAF struck over 100 targets using precise intelligence information. According to top army officials, strikes were mounted around the clock. So far 10 Palestinians have been killed in the attacks, most of them militants.

IDF Chief of Staff Benny Gantz continued on Thursday to orchestrate the operation from the army's headquarters in Tel Aviv. The army expected Gaza terror groups to step up their rocket-launching efforts, which are expected to peak around 11:30am Thursday, during Al-Jabari's funeral. Over 110 rockets were fired on Israel since the beginning of the operation, primarily towards Beersheba. Most were intercepted, while the rest exploded in open areas. Some caused damage and one caused the death of 3 people (two females among them) and injured several children.

* Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood condemned the assassination of Hamas military chief Ahmed Al-Jabari, and called on the authorities in Cairo to sever diplomatic and commercial ties with Israel.

The powerful group said in a statement that "the Egyptian government must be the first to (cut ties), and serve as an example to Arabs and Muslims who maintain relations with this entity."

The statement further called on the Palestinian Authority to immediately halt its defense cooperation with the IDF.

The Brotherhood urged Egyptians to take to the streets and protest in front of major mosques in Cairo and other cities after Friday prayers, with a central rally taking place in front of the Al-Azhar Mosque in the capital.

The demonstrations are meant to show that Egyptians denounce the Israeli strikes on Gaza.

"We urge the entire nation to join the Muslim Brotherhood in showing our rage over the Zionist entity's attacks and our support for the Palestinian resistance at rallies that will take place after Friday prayers," Muhammad Badie, the movement's supreme guide, said on Facebook.

  • Aydeo!

Can't you even get your propaganda straight! The IDF calls this "Operation Pillar of Defense" not "Cloud Pillar" - see http://www.idfblog.com/2012/11/14/live-updates-idf-terror-targets-gaza/

And the ten dead Palestinians (most of them militants) ? Does that mean that these children were mostly militants?

  • Reap what you sow. You deligitimized Fatah and Abbas and made peace impossible. Even when those bastards made concessions considered traitorous by even the greatest moderates, you told the negotiators to fuck off.

And now you are complaining of a war that was avoidable. If Israel wanted peace, it would empower the peacemakers, the carrot, not the stick

    • @Catalytic

The palis are not united. some with the PA some with Hamas. if they had one entity that was actually accepted by everyone, there was actually some reason to talk to them.
you make peace with one hand while the other slaps you? don't think so.

Also, look how the peace with Egypt is going on. there's almost no talking to these backwards.

    • @little15 You say that now...Israel bankrolled and built Hamas in the early days as a counter to the secular PLO

Your Govt was very happy the the Palestinians became divided...don't try to use 'we've got no one to talk to card' now Lol, you're shameless!

Nope, that shit won't fly. Fatah tried to make peace, and Israel in not so kind words told him to fuck off.

The Al Jazeera papers say that much. They made concessions traitorous to even the greatest moderates and you still snubbed them.

YOu empowered the militants by delegitimizing the peacemakers. It no wonder Palestinians are more and more sympathetic to the idea of armed resistance to liberate themselves.

ALl the West Bank needs is a straw to break the camel's back.

To be fair, they didn't build Hamas, but they certainly did aid in its creation in many ways.
