Taliban free German hostage
Oct. 10 - Germany's foreign minister says Taliban rebels have freed a German hostage in Afghanistan after more than two months of captivity.
A spokeswoman at the German embassy in the Afghan capital Kabul said engineer Rudolf Blechschmidt arrived there seemingly physically well but having lost a lot of weight.
Blechschmidt and five Afghans were seized along with another German in Wardak province, just southwest of Kabul, in July.
The Taliban kidnappers shot dead the other German soon afterwards.
