I hope the tank commander was wearing his googles. Also where are these IED makers coming from? I doubt Syrian civilians have much experience of making them. My guess is there are a bunch of Sunni Iraqi mujahideen in Syria making these things.

Looked EFP to me....Russian tech via Persia used against Alawis and more Russian Tech. Pure speculation of course but the irony is likely there somewhere.
