A View of the Louisiana Marsh From My Deer Stand

Fall has finally arrived and for me that means two things: Football and Hunting.
This is a short vid showing the view from my deer stand in Jean Lafitte National Park in South East Louisiana.

  • He's gonna come in from the west and you aren't gonna see him until pretty late because the sun will be in your eyes. Stay still, and good hunting.

I hope I get to post a vid later with deer in it. The season isn't open yet. They allow you to put the stands out early, but we can't hunt until Nov.

    • @Wegodex You just can't wait, can you? I know that feeling... I got mine, a nice 4x4 mulie, about 30 minutes into opening morning this year up in the eastern Sierras. At least I had 5 days of fun climbing up and down mountains scouting out the area beforehand. Good luck!

I don't worry too much about the deer, but the feral hogs out there are world class assholes. Those bastards will even eat your bones.

  • Nice, Dex! It looks so pleasant out there. Man there's nothing like watching the sun come up from a nice spot like that. The crisp, bright orange rays flooding through the trees, changing the landscape's appearance from one moment to the next, stirring wildlife, inspiring the birds to sing. This is my church, brother.

Same here dude. The seat spins 360 but I keep it facing east. The morning sun comes right up through those trees and the whole marsh comes to life. I've got some other vids of the walk to the stand and the boat ride, but HD vids take forever to upload. I'll probably do one a day. I'll let you know when the others are up.

We start black powder / bow in Oct down here. Mid Nov starts rifle and shotgun. I can't wait to get back out there and I hope I get one this year to share with you guys. Thanks for well-wishes dude. Good luck to you too.

There isn't a road within miles of this place. The only way to get to this place is by boat. The heavy equipment you see in the background is on a barge. They were working on coastal restoration projects over the summer.

  • Looks cool. So yall can hunt down there with shotguns already? Bow season starts up here in Illinois I think on October 1st. I don't bow hunt, but they have some pretty stringent rules up here in regards to shotgun season. The weekend before Thanksgiving, and the weekend after. And then a last chance anterless only season in January, but it's usually so cold I don't bother.

Can't wait though. I love chilling out in the stand and becoming one with nature. Good luck on your hunt!!
