The woman who drove the wrong way on Interstate 15 and struck a police cruiser head-on Wednesday night now faces a battery of charges.
Haylee Arnell, a 19-year-old from Riverton, was driving the wrong way in the southbound high-occupancy vehicle lane of I-15 near Thanksgiving Point. A trooper spotted her, drove further north and turned into the HOV lane.
A video released by Utah Highway Patrol shows the trooper stopping his vehicle in the lane, flashing lights on. Arnell, driving a white sedan, plows into the police vehicle.
Arnell faces seven charges related to the incident, including DUI, unsafe lane travel and trying to leave the scene of the accident, according to Utah County Sheriff’s Office records.
The trooper was treated at American Fork Hospital.
The Lehi Police Department is investigating the incident.
