here is the congressman how attached this provision to the bill. it was being held hostage and soon due to expire without a vote. rhe republicans attaches several amendments to the bill and it was barginned down to this.
my complaint is how easily democrats fold. if the opposition party continues to hold out with all sorts of outrageous provisions then let it expire and get the message out WHY it expired. but that only seems to work for the republican party.

It’s ridiculous to give the impression that these "first responders" are not receiving benefits they are entitled to. Regardless of any legislation, these people are covered by the insurance and disability coverage provided by their employer. Whether it's the city or state, these people are covered. The federal compensation is nothing more than politics. Leave it to the Russians and other leftist groups to try and exploit this tragedy.

Absurd. Not only were these real heroes victims of possible PTSD, they were exposed to tons of asbestos dust during and after the towers collapsed. Some of them are already dead from causes directly related to their work at the tower ruins. And now the government is fucking them over.
