What the Media Won't Touch with a Ten-Foot Pole

There are things the mainstream American News Media won't touch with a ten-foot pole.

=====

U.N. Security Council Resolution 446

"Determines that the policy and practices of Israel in establishing settlements in the Palestinian and other Arab territories occupied since 1967 have no legal validity and constitute a serious obstruction to achieving a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in the Middle East."

=====

Israel Approves More Construction in West Bank, East Jerusalem

Israel has approved construction of hundreds of new homes in East Jerusalem, and has invited bids for building projects in the West Bank.

The Israeli government Thursday said it will build 130 living units in the Har Homa neighborhood of eastern Jerusalem. That neighborhood was built on land Israel occupied in the 1967 Mideast war. Israel incorporated the areas into Jerusalem's boundaries in a move not recognized internationally.

Israeli officials also called for bids from construction companies to build more than 300 apartments in the West Bank settlement of Beitar Illit.

Palestinian officials condemn new settlements, saying they undermine U.S.-backed peace talks.

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has stressed repeatedly that settlement construction or expansion in the West Bank is contrary to international law and Israel's commitments under the "road map" peace process.

Mr. Ban has urged Israel to freeze all settlement activity and to dismantle outposts erected since March of 2001.

  • Well the building of settlements in occupied areas is not new has been reported on in the media like CNN. But the US will not speak up because US politicians fear payback from Jewish voters and AIPAC. Charles Percy, former senator from Illinois found that out the hard way.

    But Israeli's and Jews living in the US think they are entitled to do whatever they want because they were persecuted. Which is why the settlements over there continue, and is why Palestinians will continue to attack them.

  • You win a war, you take the land. Always been the way. Why are you clowns so interested in the defeat of Israel? They are the size of Rhode Island in comparrison to the U.S. Even the Arab states don't want the Palestinians. For years they tried to assimilate into Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, and the Arabs kicked them out because they were a pain in the ass and caused acts of terrorism in those countries. I hope Israel kicks some butt and soon.

    • the state of Israel was founded on ethnic cleansing

      but now that it exists a two-state solution is the only solution, imo

      Posted Aug-12-2008 By

    • I agree with you on pricipal for the two state solution but with one caveat. Say it is drawn on the pre war of 1967 lines and an attack occurs on Israeli soil by any group associated with the new palestinean nation then Isreal has the right to return to the present conditions by force if necessary.

    • Agreed. Hamas however has made it clear there will be no two state solution so long as it is in power, thus it will just go back to the way it is. The Arabs are the reason the Palestinians are still where they are. It's their biggest tool to fight Zionism. So long as people are suffering, people will continue to feel the Palestinians have some sort of justification, that's why none of the Arab nations, who claim to care so much for the plight of these people, refuse to let them live in Syria, Jo More..
